Art Mentoring

Art Mentoring

Art mentoring is part of the 1:1 support we offer children in school. These sessions are underpinned by the approaches of Relational Practice, the British Association Art Therapist's ARTiculate model and Attachment Based Mentoring.  Through play and creativity, the child can experience more of what they need.  This is personalised and bespoke to the individual.

The practitioner works to identify and respond to the underlying need.  Some children may benefit from having a calm, trusted place to make and talk.  For some, art mentoring may be a space to experience co-regulation, have positive attachment experiences and develop helpful learning behaviours.  Others may wish to shape their own goals and consider how they would like things to be then we can gently work towards a better feeling place.

Whatever the focus of the session, we aim to be alongside the child and empower them to find the next step in fun and creative ways.
