Why might I refer a pupil?

Why might I make a referral?

Sharing concerns within a team can open up new avenues of support and stimulate change.  The child's well being is always central.  Making decisions together can feel supportive to yourself as well as the child.

Who can make an IIH referral?

We welcome referrals from parents and carers, SENDCos, Heads and teaching staff, professional bodies such as Early Help and those from a Health and wellbeing background.

What might I observe in the classroom?

We view behaviour as communication and look for signs and behaviours that might indicate further support is needed.  Here are some examples what you might observe in your child that might prompt an IIH referral:

  • feeling anxious
  • experiencing overwhelm
  • disengagement and withdrawal
  • angry and aggressive outbursts
  • inconsistent attendance
  • working below age-related expectations
  • struggling to build relationships
  • demanding high levels of attention
  • difficulty self-regulating big emotions
  • lacking confidence and resilience
  • self-harming behaviours
You might also consider contacting us if you feel your child would benefit from additional support after experiencing some kind of adversity.
