Building Resilience

Parent feedback comments:

"I thought the content of the course was perfect and the challenge/walk day was inspired and fun. Thank you. I just wanted to say what a huge privilege it has been to be able to take part in this course. I really hope you fully know and understand the value of what you offer."

"My child is generally calmer and seems much happier.  Her levels of anxiety seem much reduced also.  The course has made an impact on both of us, we are communicating more openly and talk about situations that we are finding difficult.  Her confidence has been boosted as a result of taking part in the sessions and she now talks about feeling happy and about trying new things which might seem a little overwhelming."

"Both IIH courses have been really valuable for my daughter. Talking to the other parents and sharing experiences has been helpful to the carers, too."

"I think that in a quite subtle way I have absorbed the teachings of this course. It has given me some quite profound insights into how in the past I may have tried to be resilient, but these ways were in fact to my detriment. I am now reframing what its means to be resilient and to put that into practice on a daily basis. For my son I see how being on the course has helped him to take pride in his achievement where he has had to use his resilience. We are openly talking about the different qualities resilience has. To sum it up I would say this course has had a hugely positive impact on our lives!

"My hope for this course was that my child might start to self manage her tiredness and sensory overloads, to recognise when she is becoming overwhelmed and to implement strategies to prevent that happening. I think the course had definitely helped. The planning for the expedition helped show her how to break big tasks down and plan back up strategies."

"Really useful for both my son and I to think about / recognise whether we are in our comfort, stretch, panic zones. The self awareness and reflection has really helped me. I was really proud of him for attending the whole course and completing the expedition even though he didn't want to go."

"I’m a bit more confident.  Things are easier at school and at home.
I feel more happier and like I don’t need to try and make myself feel happier."

"Resilience is trying to listen to your body and keep going even when things are difficult."

"Building Resilience isn’t just about pushing through, it’s about being strong enough to make the choices that most serve you at that time. It’s about having the courage to follow your instinct rather than doing what you think looks like the right thing to do from an outside perspective."

"The long walk helped me change my resilience."
