 Parent Carer Feedback:

"My child is now able to talk about strategies for managing his feelings and recognise each feeling more clearly."

"He is easier to console when upset and easier/quicker to come out of anger."

He now has "a high self esteem and determination."

The most powerful learning for my child was...

"Knowing his feelings are acceptable - that he is not alone - that anger and frustration are normal reactions and he has the power to decide how to demonstrate his feelings."

"Reflecting on sadness and working through uncomfortable feelings about it."

"Identifying that he has many emotions inside him that are all mixed up."

"To share problems."

Your own greatest learning/ personal insight on the course has been...

"Understanding more about what helps my child to understand how he is feeling and what works for him to manage this."

"Unpicking the 5 stages of anger."

"To try to come from a 'place of care' when asking to do things. To try and be calm myself before responding to the anger, but to also try and validate the anger - maybe through mirroring her actions."

Overall...

"The course has been a really valuable experience to be able to witness him at play and see how he participates (or not!) and hear his own insights. It’s been nice to have a shared experience to discuss at home."

"It was a really good opportunity to focus on emotions and our relationship without the distractions of everyday life."

Child feedback & Discoveries

"Sad - blue circle. It feels really, really, really smooth. Sad fingers. Wants a cuddle. Crying can help.

Anger - I really want not to share my anger but I do want to talk. I don't want to hurt people with my anger. Don't hit and push people'.  'Anger moves' were helpful, like a dinosaur. Roaring and clawing, pretending to be a dinosaur can help."

Which feelings do you find most tricky?

"Grumpy  - I don't like it when mummy tells me to do something I don't want to do!"

"Anger - it takes more strength than being happy, it makes me tired, it's hard work to stop feeling angry."

"Happiness is in my chest, it's yellow.  Anger is in my teeth-it's red .  Worry is in my toes, it's black and grey. Sadness is in my eyes- it is blue."

"I loved seeing friends and meeting new friends."

"I like the body bottle I can see my feelings and and it helps me calm down."
