Welcome to our school

The Link Academy Inclusion Hub supports children and young people who are experiencing social, emotional or mental health challenges. Our aim is to work with children, their families and the school to feel they have the understanding and the tools to move forwards.

The work of the IIH takes a Relational Approach.  We understand how powerful relationships are in feeling connected, protected, cared for and understood. We view behaviour as a communication and take the time to listen to a child's individual story.   Our knowledge of neuroscience underpins our practice. We employ a trauma informed approach to reach children and their families so that they can experience the best possible support.

The IIH is inclusive, welcoming all children and parents.  We regularly work with children who present with behavioural challenges, neurodiversity, the presentations of ACEs, interruptions in attachment and developmental trauma.

In the woodland, we offer progressive courses for pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2, focusing on different aspects of social, emotional and mental health.  Set outdoors, nature supports us to calm the nervous system and regulate our body and mind.  We aim to build positive relationships that empower children and help them understand themselves.  We teach strategies to manage big emotions through embodied experiences and a safe level of challenge.  All courses incorporate the natural environment, creativity, activity, fun and play.

Back in school, the IIH team work to support the adults around the child, examples of this work are:

  • working with the Team Around the Family
  • upskilling staff with the latest knowledge and professional practice
  • signposting parents to Early Help and further support
  • referring children to our Plymouth Multiagency Support Team
  • being an integral part of transitions into Year 7
  • co-writing relational support plans and co-regulation plans
  • offering advice during formal applications such as EHCPs
  • supporting SENDCos and monitoring the Academy Pupil Premium provision.

We invite you to get in touch if you have an enquiry or a specific need.  Our experienced team can help you to find the best way forward and create a bespoke package for you.
